South Carolina native and LPGA Tour pro Lauren Stephenson (pictured), who played at Clemson and Alabama, and former University of South Carolina and pro Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of France earned berths in the upcoming Women’s U.S. Open at qualifying Tuesday at Starmount Forest Country Club.
The Women’s Open begins May 30 at Lancaster (Pennsylvania) Country Club.
Stephenson and Roussin-Bouchard shot 9-under-par 135 for 36 holes. Wake Forest freshman Brooke Rivers, a Canadian national team player, and pro Gina Kim, a former Duke player, were one shot away. Stephenson shot 66 and 69. Rivers shot 69 and 66. More than 70 players took part.
