Heavy rain forced cancelation of the opening round of the N.C. Senior Open at Tuesday at High Point Country Club’s Willow Creek course.
Carolinas PGA officials said its plans are to shorten the scheduled 36-hole event to 18 holes with a shotgun start on Wednesday, the time determined by course conditions.
The field of more than 90 amateurs and pros does not include former Greensboro National pro Jimmy Flippen, who has moved to Virginia. Flippen won last year at Treyburn Country Club in Durham.
Last week, Dale Fuller of Raleigh won the Carolinas PGA Senior Amateur at Holly Ridge. Next week, the North Carolina Amateur is scheduled for Starmount Country Club.
