The North Carolina Senior Open was washed out Wednesday due to heavy rains that flooded the Willow Creek course at High Point County Club.
The annual tournament, scheduled for 36 holes, was canceled due to standing water on Tuesday.
“The golf course is flooded. (Tuesday), on the back nine you could only get to one or two holes,” said CPGA tournament director Brianna Newton.
The rain continued Tuesday night and Wednesday. The creek spilled onto the course.
During the next few weeks, Newton said the CPGA would attempt to reschedule the tournament with the new dates probably in the fall.
Newton said Willow Creek would be the first choice as location. But if not possible, the CPGA would consider other potential hosts.
“We definitely want to see if we can come up with something,” Newton said.
More than 90 players has entered the field. Newton said the CPGA might reopen entries when the tournament is rescheduled.
