Tyler Watts of Huntsville, Alabama, shot 66 Friday to take a four-stroke lead after three rounds at the 72-hole Northeast Amateur at Wannsmoisett Country Club in Rumford, Rhode Island.
Watts, a rising freshman at Tennessee, is at 12-under-par 195 entering Saturday’s final round. Carson Bertagnole, a rising UNC sophomore from Pinehurst who shot 61 to take the first-round lead, is in a tie for fourth, six strokes behind, after shooting 71.
