PGA Professional Robert Linville, of Greensboro, NC, won the 2010 Bermuda Run CPGA Senior Open, held at Bermuda Run Country Club (East Course) in Advance, NC.
Linville, Director of Instruction for Precision Golf School in Greensboro, NC, had two solid rounds of 74-72 for a total of 146 (+2). After Steve Forrest, PGA, of Clemmons, NC, fired a tournament-low 70 in the second round, the two were tied for the Overall Championship.
The playoff was contested on the par-4 18th hole, which Robert Linville birdied to capture the title. The win also earned Linville the honor of CPGA Senior Professional Player of the Year.
Overall Amateur honors went to Ernie Newton of High Point, NC. Ernie fired a phenominal second round 71 in unfavorable weather that included scattered showers and mild wind. Ernie’s final score was 78-71=149 (+5). Wayne Pyrtle of Burlington, NC came in a close second with 74-76=150 (+6).
Brodie Baker of Advance, NC finished atop the Super Senior Amateur division by one shot after carding rounds of 77 and 75 for a total 152 (+8). Dave Robinson of Burlington, NC finished one shot back with a 153 (+9).
