GREENSBORO, N.C. – In an effort to help grow the game of golf, the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event is partnering with The First Tee of the Triad to host the Wyndham Championship Golf Clinic presented by Sunbrella, a free golf clinic on Saturday, June 23, it was announced today. The 73rd annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 13-19, 2012.
People of any age who want to learn to play golf are invited to attend this free clinic, set for 9 a.m. until Noon, and golfers are encouraged to attend in parent-child or grandparent-child twosomes allowing children and their parents or grandparents to learn the game together from professional instructors.
Carolinas PGA Professionals will staff each station teaching a different basic golf skill such as putting, chipping, basics of the swing and more. The clinic will take place at Gillespie Park in Greensboro, site of the very successful Newspapers in Education kids’ clinic held earlier this year. A maximum of 200 players may participate.
Contested annually on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship was founded in 1938 and is the seventh-oldest event on the PGA TOUR.
